Port of Klaipeda (Lithuania) handled 35.12 mln t of cargo in 10M’17, up 5.5% Y-o-Y

Freight volume handled at the Port of Klaipeda, Lithuania, in January-October 2017 grew by 5.5%, year-on-year, to 35.12 mln t, the Port Authority statistics said. In October, the port handled 3.72  mln t (+10.1%) including 876,650 t of liquid bulk cargo (+30.8%),  1.1 mln t of general cargo (-6.7%) and 1.74 mln t of dry bulk cargo (+14.1%).

In the reporting period, the number of calls fell by 2017 года на 4.5% to 5,453.

State-run Port of Klaipeda, the northernmost ice-free port on the East coast of the Baltic Sea, is the largest Lithuanian transport hub, connecting sea and inland traffic lanes. There are 17 stevedore companies, shipyards and other operators at the port, providing a broad range of services. Throughput of Klaipeda port in 2016 increased by almost 4% (y-o-y) to over 40 million tonnes.
