FSUE Atomflot says its nuclear-powered icebreakers have fulfilled their contractual obligations in the summer-autumn navigation season of 2017 by November 30, 2017.
In June-November 2017 the company’s icebreakers assisted 87 vessels through the Northern Sea Route (including 48 vessels going eastwards and 39 vessels going westwards). Those vessels totally carried 195,500 t of cargo.
Nuclear-powered icebreakers Vaigach and Taimyr participated in escorting vessels operating in the area of the Novoportovskoye field. Shallow-draft icebreakers were also deployed for maintenance of the ice canal on the Yenisei river. Nuclear-powered icebreakers Yamal and 50 Let Pobedy were servicing vessels at port Sabetta.
As of today, three of the four functioning icebreakers are deployed for offshore operations. The Taimyr is undergoing scheduled dock repairs.
