Trans-Caspian International Transport Route development discussed in Ankara
Ankara hosted the general meeting of the Association of Legal Entities (ULE) “International Association” Trans-Caspian International Transport Corridor”, says press center of Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company.
During the meeting, "Turkish State Railways" were elected permanent member of TCITR. In this regard, Secretary General of the Trans-Caspian Transport Route Mr. Baurzhan Kulushev and General Director of the Turkish State Railways Mr. Veysi Kurt signed a protocol.
The meeting was attended by officials of CJSC “Azerbaijan Railways”, CJSC “Azerbaijan Caspian Shipping Company”, CJSC “Baku International Sea Trade Port”, as well as representatives of the railways of Kazakhstan, Georgia, Turkey, China, Uzbekistan, Poland and companies engaged in sea freight.
During the discussions there were stressed the necessity of the effective use of potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and attraction of cargo flows to this direction.
It was noted that there is a huge potential for increasing the efficiency of cargo transportation along the Trans-Caspian international transport route and increasing the speed of work due to the mutual coordination of operations on this route.
The member states implement consistent measures for the subsequent development of this corridor. One of the most important indicators of TCITR 's competitiveness increase is the launch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway.
The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway makes a great contribution to the development of cooperation and trade not only between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, but throughout the Eurasian region, while fostering increase in the volume of freight traffic between Europe and Asia.
