USC set to reduce the delay in Lotos shipyard’s construction of a cruise liner from 3 to 1 month
The construction of a cruise liner by Lotos shipyard in the Astrakhan Region is three months behind schedule. However, there is a programme that will let reduce this delay, IAA PortNews correspondent cites USC President Aleksey Rakhmanov.
“We have organized the work so that financial and technical issues are dealt with quite promptly. We had to appoint a new head of Lotos shipyard …. The new head has embarked on this work with enthusiasm. We hope he will be able to reduce this delay to one month, that will let us comply with the contract terms”, said the head of USC.
The United Shipbuilding Corporation is going to have the liner prepared for the delivery by the navigation season of 2019.
Igor Sadovnichiy was appointed as Acting Director General of Lotos shipyard on 1 December 2017 to replace Dmitry Antonov, previous head of the company.
Ceremonial keel-laying of the cruise ship of Project PV300VD designed by Marine Engineering Bureau was held at Lotos shipyard in August 2016. Moscow River Shipping Company is the customer of 141 m long and 16.5 m wide four-deck liner able to accommodate 310 passengers and 90 crewmembers/personnel. The floating hotel with balconies and terraces will offer 155 cabins including standard and luxury class rooms.
JSC Shipbuilding Plant "Lotos", one of the largest companies of the Astrakhan Region and the Southern region of Russia, has qualified staff and great technical capabilities, has certificates of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, Russian River Register, GL, Rostechnadzor. Lotos shipyard is an anchor resident of the special economic zone “Lotus”. Since 2012 the shipyard is managed by United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC). The main shareholders are USC, Caspian Energy Group and the Government of the Astrakhan region.
United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC OJSC) is the largest shipbuilding company in Russia. It was set up in 2007 with 100% federal ownership. The holding comprises 40 companies and organizations (major shipbuilding and shiprepairing companies as well as leading design bureaus). Currently, USC consolidates the bulk of the domestic shipbuilding complex. The Russian market is the main focus of the state corporation though it also exports its products to 20 countries worldwide.
