Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg celebrates Victory Day

On May 8, on the eve of the Great Victory Day, Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg JSC (SP SPb, a company of UCL Holding), is holding special events for its employees and veterans to commemorate those who defended the Motherland from fascist aggressors and who remember happy tears of 9 May 1945.

The Victory Day celebrations begin at 11.00 with the meeting attended by veterans, company employees, their families, representatives of trade unions and guests of the port. The meeting beginning with laying of flowers at the Monument to Heroic Seafarers of the Baltic Shipping Company and the Leningrad Port continues with the memorial march of the Immortal Regiment to visit the monuments in the territory of SP SPb and to lay flowers at the Port Defendants stele near the Gutuyevsky Kovsh basin and at wall memorials.

To follow these events the company has organized a bus tour in the First and the Second Districts of the port for the veterans followed by a tea-party. The port employees are offered a tour to the museum of the patriotic union Lenrezerv displaying military equipment and items of spiritual heritage of the Second World War period.

This year is no exception with financial assistance provided to the port veterans. On the eve of the 73rd anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945, the company paid RUB 230,000 to homefront workers, war veterans and prisoners of concentration camps.

Meetings with veterans on the eve of the Victory Day, congratulations, sharing memories and news is still among the best and most significant traditions of Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg. SP SPb expresses its deepest gratitude to those whose memory keeps the scenes of black war skies and wishes long years to everybody under blue peaceful skies.
