Varun Shipping Company has acquired one 2001 built anchor handling and towing supply vessel (AHTS Vessel).
This vessel has BHP of around 16,000 T and Bollard pull in excess of 180 tonnes. This vessel will be used for deep sea oil exploration going on in North Sea, Bay of Bengal and Atlantic Ocean off the coasts of Nigeria, Brazil and Mexico.
The company reported a 25% dip in net profit to Rs 396.29 million for the quarter ended December 2006 as compared with Rs 527.21 million for the quarter ended December 2005.
Sales of the company slipped to Rs 1,634.76 million for the current quarter, as compared with Rs 1,890.92 million for the December 2005 quarter.
Total income decreased to Rs 1,792.69 million for the quarter ended December 2006 from Rs 1,894.84 million for the quarter ended December 2005.
The shares of the company were last trading at Rs 64.95, up Rs 0.15, or 0.23% at the BSE. Total volumes of shares traded were 18,528. (Thursday, 11.12 a.m)
