Zelenodolsk Plant Named After M. Gorky lays down yet another small-size missile ship of Project 21631 for RF Navy
On 12 July 2018, AO Zelenodolsk Plant Named After M. Gorky (a company of AK BARS HOLDING) laid down the twelfth small-size missile ship of Project 21631. According to the press center of RF Defence Ministry, the ship named Stavropol is the last in a series designed by Zelenodolsk Design Bureau.
Aleksey Krivoruchko, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, who attended the ceremony, said that the delivery of the Stavropol is expected in 2023.
'River-sea' class multipurpose corvettes of Project 21631 are equipped with the latest radioelectronics and gun/missile/counter-terror/antiaircraft weapons. They are intended for protection of the state’s economic zone.
The lead ship of project 21631, Grad Sviyazhsk, and the serial ships, Uglich, Veliky Ustyug, Zeleony Dol, Serpukhov and Vyshny Volochek, have joined the fleet of RF Navy. Five more ships of the series are under construction at the shipyard today – Orekhovo-Zuyevo, Ingushetia, Gaivoron, Grad and Naro-Fominsk.
Tatarstan-based OJSC Zelenodolsk Plant named after M. Gorky specializes in the construction of warships and passenger high-speed vessels. The enterprise is managed by AK BARS HOLDING.
