Port of Hong Kong seven-month box volumes drop 4.4% to 11,5 million TEUs
Container traffic at the Port of Hong Kong, China in January-July 2018 fell 4.4% on the seven-month period of 2017 reaching 11,5 million TEUs, the port authority statistics showed.
Shipments of export/import and empty containers through the largest Kwai Tsing terminal decreased by 4.2% to 9,05 million TEUs, container traffic at other terminals fell 5.2% to 2,13 million TEUs.
Port of Hong Kong is one of the busiest container ports in the world. In 2017, total container throughput at the Port of Hong Kong reached 20.75 million TEUs. The port is able to receive and handle 456,000 ships a year.
