In January-October 2018, seaports of Ukraine handled more than 108 million tonnes of cargo, down 0.7%, year-on-year, says press center of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority.
According to the statement the situation continues to improve in transshipment of grain, ore and metal accounting for 60% of Ukrainian seaports’ throughput As of the end of October, grain transshipment makes 94.6% (30.8 million tonnes), iron ore— 98.7% (22.9 million tonnes), ferrous metal— 111% (13.2 million tonnes).
Container throughput in seaports of Ukraine grew by 16% to 683,800 TEUs.
Total transshipment of export cargo fell by 3.8% to 78.7 million tonnes.
Imports grew by 19% to 18.9 million tonnes including 408,900 tonnes of coke (up 4.7 times), 276,200 tonnes of chemical and mineral fertilizers (up 2.4 times) and 6.2 million tonnes of ore (+ 21%).
In the reporting period transit fell by 11% to 8.6 million tonnes.
From the beginning of 2018, seaports of Ukraine handled 9,613 vessels (down 1.7%, year-on-year).
Passenger turnover totaled 465,773 including 463,897 domestic passengers and 44,206 foreign passengers).
