Management changes at the Gothenburg Port Authority

On Tuesday the 27th of November the City of Gothenburg made public the decision to start the recruitment of a new CEO for the organisation to take over when Magnus Karestedt, after a long and successful period as CEO in June of 2019, will move on in his career.

Magnus Karestedt has been CEO of the Port of Gothenburg since 2003. Six months from now he will pursue new opportunities outside the port.

Magnus Karestedt joined the Port of Gothenburg in 2003 and has during his 15 years worked to modernize and develop the port.

“The Port of Gothenburg is one of the most exciting places you can work at and I am very passionate about the most important logistics hub in Scandinavia. I feel that I am now leaving on a high note and at a good place in time. With a number of good investments in port operations and infrastructure, and many improvement areas I think we are handing both a new CEO and new board members the very best conditions for a continued development of the Port of Gothenburg”, said Magnus Karestedt says in a comment to a City of Gothenburg official organisational announcement.

Simultaneously, Ulrica Messing, Chairman of the board at the Gothenburg Port Authority announced that she will not make herself eligible for re-election when the board gets re-elected in March of 2019.

Operationally, Magnus Karestedt will run the organisation while the recruitment process is ongoing and oversee a smooth transition for his successor. Client and/or partners of the Port of Gothenburg or the Port Authority will not notice any changes to the daily business at the port. Operations, projects and customer service will remain at the normal high level as before.
