Modernization of FESCO terminal in Novosibirsk will allow to halve the time of container handling to 8 minutes, and trains handling – to 1.5 days instead of 2-3 days.
FESCO says repair works began in 2018 and will be completed next year. In addition, in 2019, new sites will be put into operation which will allow to increase the storage area of containers by 600-700 TEU, to 2,000 TEU. After modernization, it will become possible to handle trains of 40 cars.
It is planned to renew the terminal’s cargo handling equipment. In November 2018, a new richstaker will be put into operation.
Novosibirsk is one of key links of FESCO’s intermodal chain of cargo delivery between the Asia-Pacific countries and Russian regions through the Far East. The cities of Novosibirsk and Vladivostok are linked by the regular container train FESCO Siberian Shuttle.
The terminal is located in Novosibirsk, next to Novosibirsk-Vostochnyi railway station. It is a part of the transport complex with a total area of 15 hectares which includes three railway tracks with a capacity of handling container trains (up to 71 cars) and the enterprise of industrial railway transport at Yuzhnaya station (railway equipment and 7 shunting locomotives). Capacity of one-time storage of the terminal is 1,300 TEU, and the annual throughput capacity is 120,000 TEU.
