Transportation of radioactive minerals to be discussed at 2nd Dangerous Goods Conference

Natural radioactivity of some minerals (phosphates, coal, etc.) can exceed natural background radiation up to 10-fold. According to nuclear safety criteria, such goods fall into a category of low-level radioactive waste subject to disposal and forbidden to be carried.

Organization of such goods transportation will be covered by Igor Okunev, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, NRC «Kurchatov Institute» - PNPI, at the 2nd Conference “Dangerous Goods: New Transportation Regulations”, which is to be held in Moscow on 12 March 2019.

The report will focus on revealing, identification and classification of such goods.

The 2nd Conference “Dangerous Goods: New Transportation Regulations” will be held on 12 March 2019, in the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation (Moscow).
