Karelia proposed construction of deep-water freight and passenger port Kem’

Artur Parfenchikov, head of the Republic of Karelia, came forward with a proposal on improvement of infrastructure in Karelia including the construction of a deep-water freight and passenger port Kem’, says press center of the Karelia Government.

On 20 August 2019, a meeting on preservation of the Solovetsky Islands and related cultural and historical  sites was held in Solovetsky settlement with the agenda including the issues of transport availability.

“The tourist flow to the Solovetsky Islands and international tourist flows to the White Sea cross Karelia. A comfortable travelling infrastructure should be formed. The Government of Karelia has developed and submitted to the federal executive authorities the projects of automobile, railway and water tourism routes”, said Artur Parfenchikov.

Total amount of investments is estimated at RUB 19,412.44.
