On 19 September 2019, Vympel Shipyard (Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region based shipyard, part of the Kalashnikov Concern) launched the Grachonok-class special purpose boat, the last in a series of four boats delivered by the shipyard to the Federal National Guard Troops Service, the shipyard says in a press release.
The launching ceremony was attended by Rear Admiral Andrey Shatayev, Head of Maritime Administration, Federal National Guard Troops Service; Colonel-General Oleg Kozlov, Hero of the Russian Federation, Commander, Southern Military District, Federal National Guard Troops Service; Dmitry Glushkov, Acting Director of the Department for Investments and Industry of the Yaroslavl Region; Oleg Goncharov, Managing Director of Vympel shipyard.
Upon completion of mooring, sea and state trials, the boat will be delivered to the customer and will be deployed for operation in the Baltic Sea.
The boat is designed to combat sabotage and terrorist threats. It is fitted with a state-of-the-art equipment for a wide range of tasks. It’s speed is up to 23 knots. The boat can survive storm of up to force 4.
