Multipurpose Reloading Complex in Ust-Luga handled 4.1 million tonnes in 9M’19, up 3% YoY

Over the first 9 months of 2019, Multipurpose Reloading Complex LLC (MRC) operating in the port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad Region) increased its throughput by 3%, year-on-year, to 4.1 million tonnes, the company says in a press release.

The growth should be attributed to implementation of the company’s programme on enhancing it operational efficiency, technological improvement of cargo transshipment processes, fulfillment of investment projects on upgrading the fleet of equipment. In 2019, the company has put into operation a Vityaz portal crane, a KALMAR DCE160-12 forklift truck and a MANTSINEN 120R material handler.

Transshipment of coal, which makes the bulk of the company’s throughput, exceeded 4 million tonnes (+4%, year-on-year) while handling of petcoke totaled 60,000 tonnes.

Between January and September, the company handled 114 cargo vessels and 55,866 open railcars. Average daily handling of railcars totaled 205 units with the maximum result as high as 313 units.

Multipurpose Reloading Complex LLC is a cargo terminal in the port of Ust-Luga, Leningrad Region, specializing in unloading, storage and loading of general and bulk cargoes. The main cargo is export power coal. In 2018, MRC LLC handled 5.4 million tonnes of cargo.
