Van Oord announces new Executive Governance structure

The Executive Board of Van Oord is pleased to announce that as of 1 January 2020, Paul Verheul will take over the position of Hans van der Ven and has been appointed as Executive Director of MerweOord B.V., the Van Oord family holding company. It’s the intention that Paul will also be nominated in April 2020 as a member of the Supervisory Board of Van Oord, the company said in its release.

Paul Verheul joined Van Oord as member of the Executive Board (Chief Operations Officer) in September 2011 and fulfilled his executive role with great dedication. Van Oord wishes to express its appreciation to Paul for the manner in which he contributed to the growth and the strength of the company in the past eight years.

Furthermore, the Executive Board would like to announce that, in close consultation with the Supervisory Board, Van Oord has decided to strengthen the governance structure. As a consequence of the Business Unit structure, initiated in January 2019, Van Oord is adjusting its leadership team with direct involvement of the Business Units. An Executive Committee will be installed to replace the current Executive Board. The Executive Committee will be responsible for managing Van Oord as a whole with a view to short and long-term goals.

As of 1 January 2020, the Executive Committee will consist of Pieter Van Oord (Chief Executive Officer), Jolanda Poots-Bijl (Chief Financial Officer), Niels de Bruijn (Chief Commercial Officer) and the Managing Directors of the four business units, Govert Van Oord (BU Dredging), Ronald Schinagl (BU Netherlands), Arnoud Kuis (BU Offshore Wind) and Maurits den Broeder (BU Offshore).

These adjustments mean that Van Oord will be well positioned to reach its business objectives.
