Arctic Center of Ship Repair is to be created in the Murmansk Region. That was announced by Denis Manturov, Minister of Industry and Trade, says press center of the Ministry. The center is to established at the premises of three ship repair yards - 10 SRZ, 35 SRZ and Nerpa. The new center will operate within United Shipbuilding Corporation allowing for optimization of costs and increase the personnel wages.
The Murmansk Region Government represented by Andrey Chibis, the Governor, and United Shipbuilding Corporation represented by its President Aleksey Rakhmanov signed an agreement on cooperation in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation. The agreement secures mutual interest of the parties in creation of a marine economic facility “Polyarny” on the basis of 10 SRZ ship repair plant.
According to the Murmansk Region Governor, the decision to create and Arctic Center of Ship Repair, gives a powerful impetus to the development of the region.
“The competence we have, the existing facilities and the current demand driven by large-scale investment projects associated with the development of the Northern Sea Route, shelf projects and new port Lavna guarantee both the demand and the load. Our task is to ensure the creation of a ship repair center headquartered in Murmansk, a large taxpayer and employer”, emphasized Andrey Chibis.
While on his working trip, Denis Manturov visited Ship Repair Center “Zvezdochka” and 35 SRZ, where he was demonstrated the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft carrier under repair as well as the facilities under reconstruction and construction at 35 SRZ.
