Research vessel Admiral Vladimirsky of RF Navy's Baltic Fleet reaches the Atlantic Ocean

Making a wide-scale oceanographic expedition around the world, the Baltic Fleet research vessel Admiral Vladimirsky passed the closed sea between Continental Europe and the United Kingdom and went to the Atlantic Ocean, says press center of RF Defence Ministry.  

By December 12, the research vessel will arrive at the first port en route — Lisbon.

The Baltic Fleet research vessel left Kronstadt and set off on a wide-scale oceanographic expedition around the world on December 3. It is dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica and the 250th anniversary of the birth of Admiral Ivan Krusenstern. A great amount of hydrographic and hydrometeorological work is planned along the route of the transition, including the area of Antarctica.  

During the expedition, the research vessel Admiral Vladimirsky will visit several foreign ports, including Lisbon, Rio de Janeiro, Montevideo, Messina, Port Victoria, Limassol and many others.
