DFDS has launched a new weekly freight service connecting Spain and the Netherlands, targeting industrial customers, freight forwarders, and project cargo owners, according to the company's release.
This new route, connecting the ports of Vilagarcía and Rotterdam, offers a direct and efficient ferry link between southern and central Europe, providing a competitive alternative to road transport.
In conjunction with this launch, DFDS and Hydro, a global aluminum and energy company, have signed an agreement for the weekly shipment of aluminum products.
This partnership leverages the RoRo (roll on – roll off) solution, eliminating the need for cranes and reducing safety risks associated with hanging loads. By significantly reducing loading times, ships can maintain on-time delivery while operating at lower speeds, resulting in reduced fuel consumption and emissions.
"This new route offers significant potential and aligns perfectly with our focus on organic growth," says Mathieu Girardin, Head of Ferry Division at DFDS. "We are excited to establish a strong partnership with Hydro, enhancing their supply chain and demonstrating our commitment to being a strategic partner for major companies."
DFDS will operate the Belgia Seaways on this route, offering a capacity of 2660 lanemeters.
