FESCO demands Containerships retracts acquisition statement

FESCO has issued an official statement that it has never considered, discussed or made any public statements whatsoever about any intention to acquire Containerships and/or its container terminal Moby Dick.
According to FESCO, recent reports in the Russian media about the company’s alleged interest in acquiring Containerships or its container terminal Moby Dick are purely guess-work on the part of individual journalists, and have no relevance to the company’s plans related to the acquisition of new assets.
While FESCO’s senior management disclosed its interest in considering the acquisition of container terminal assets in one of the EU countries at the company’s recent Annual Press Conference, the possible acquisition of Moby Dick container terminal, located in the St. Petersburg region (not EU territory) was obviously not implied in such statements.
FESCO further stated that all allegations contained in the statement by Containerships Group’s managing director Sigurjon Markusson, about the connection of either FESCO Group or any of its affiliates with the problematic situation around Moby Dick terminal, are not only groundless, but damage the company’s business reputation.
FESCO Group management insists that Containerships now officially refutes the previously made statement, failing which FESCO intends to seek the defence of its damaged reputation in court.
