Ports of Seattle and Dalian sign friendship accord

The ports of Seattle in Washington State and Dalian in northern China recently signed a friendship agreement aimed at enhancing trade between the two harbours.
Port of Seattle CEO Tay Yoshitani and Sun Hong, president of the Dalian Port Corporation, signed an accord establishing a Friendship Port Agreement at the Port of Seattle Commission Chambers at Pier 69.
"This agreement will serve as a platform for enhancing the flow of information and for promoting personnel exchange between the two ports," Mr Yoshitani said. "The relationship will help both ports develop trade and business opportunities."
The Port of Dalian was founded in 1899. The port's container volume in 2005 was 2.66 million TEU, making it one of China's 10 largest container ports.
