NYK/LauritzenCool and partners takes over the Great White Fleet

NYK/LauritzenCool has taken control over the Great White Fleet owned by Chiquita Bananas. The banana producing company has sold off their logistic division to a joint consortium formed of the NYK/LauritzenCool and the shipowning companies Eastwind in New York and Chartworld in Piraeus. The fleet of 8 reefers and four containerships, with a high reefer container capacity, has been sold to the two shipowning companies for a sum of USD 227 million. NYK/LauritzenCool will take care of the commercial management in close co-operation with Chiquita Bananas on long term time charter agreements in combination with other reefer ships under NYK/LauritzenCool control.
