Throughput of the port of Odessa (Ukraine) up 21.4% in Jan.-Apr. 07, y-o-y

In January-April 2007, the port of Odessa (Ukraine’s largest seaport) handled 11.4 million tons of cargo (+21.4%, year-on-year), the port’s administration reports according to RBC-Ukraine. Transshipment of dry cargo grew by 15.7% - to 5.6 million tons including 3.7 million tons of general cargo (+4.2%), 1.9 million tons of loose dry cargo (+46.8%), while transshipment of liquid bulk cargo grew by 27.6% to 5.8 million tons. Considerable growth was demonstrated in transshipment of oil, containers, coal, grain while growth rates decreased in the sector of metal cargo and refined products.  In 2006, throughput of the port of Odessa grew by 4.3% to 28.1 million tons, net profit – by 5% to 127.5 million hryvnias.
