Throughput of the port of Vanino (Far East) up 2.7% in Jan.-Apr. 07, y-o-y

In January-April 2007, Vanino Port OJSC totaled 2.12 million tons (+2.7%, year-on-year), the company reports according to AK&M. Export shipment totaled 1.16 million tons (+1.5%), import - 323.1 thou tons (+21.3%), transshipment of coastal trade cargo amounted to 95.1thou tons (-17.9%). Vanino-Kholmsk ferry link transported 544.1 thou tons of cargo. The highest growth was demonstrated in export of timber - 712.5 thou tons (+3.8%) and coal 183.6 thou tons (+44.4%) as well as in import of alumina - 309.3 thou tons (+21%). In January-April of the current year the company handled 24.4 thou wagons and 559 vessels (including 233 ferries). The port’s container turnover totaled 7388 TEU. In April the port handled 627.1 thou tons (+5.8%, year-on-year).

 

Vanino Commercial Seaport is the largest stevedoring company at Khabarivsk region. It provides handling and forwarding services. Cargo is delivered via Vanino to the north-eastern regions of Russia, Japan, South Korea, China, Australia, USA and other countries of APR. The company’s major shareholder is Federal Agency on Federal Property Management. It holds 55% of the company’s stock. The port’s revenue in three quarters of 2006 totaled RUR 793.4 million, net profit – RUR 41.9 million. In 2006, the port’s cargo turnover grew by 4.4% to 6.428 million tons.
