On May 5, stevedoring company In-Tranzit placed the SCF Altai storage tanker (built in 2001) at the outer anchorage 5А
(Kronshtadt) for export transshipment of heavy fuel oil in summer navigation of 2007, PortNews IAA learnt from the company. The capacity of the vessel owned by Sovcomflot OJSC is 150,000 tons. As of today, it is planned to transship 1.2 million tons of heavy fuel oil via the tanker throughout the navigation period. The product is to be supplied by Rosneft OC. As PortNews IAA was told at In-Tranzit, “The volume is possibly to be increased provided that the second tanker is placed”. Loading of the off-harbor transshipment complex is ensured by river-going tankers of 5,000 tons in capacity, which deliver product by Volga-Baltic waterway. Export batch of oil product (up to 100,000 tons) is then transshipped to sea-going tankers. The first river-going tanker is to come to the transshipment complex on May 9. Emergency alert at the complex is arranged by Baltic Basin Response Department FSUE (BBRD). In navigation of 2006 (from May till October inclusively), stevedoring company In-Tranzit transshipped 1.8 million tons of product at the off-harbor transshipment complex of the port of St. Petersburg. The company used two storage tankers.
