Throughput of the port of Belgorod-Dnestrovski (Ukraine) up 21% in Q1 07, y-o-y

In January-March 2007, Commercial Seaport of Belgorod-Dnestrovski (Ukraine) handled 302.2 thou tons of cargo (+21%, year-on-year), the port’s administration reports according to RBC-Ukraine. Total growth amounted to 52 thou tons including 32 thou tons of timber.

Commercial Seaport of Belgorod-Dnestrovski specializes in transshipment of timber. It makes 83.4% of all timber handled by Ukraine’s seaports. In 2006, Ukraine's commercial harbors transshipped 1.047 million tons of timber including 1.042 million tons of export timber (-7.7%, year-on-year). However, Belgorod-Dnestrovski increased transshipment of this type of cargo by 8.5% over the reported period – to 872.5 thou tons. The port’s total throughput grew by 8% in 2006 – to 1.13 million tons.
