Throughput of the port of Riga (Latvia) down 5.1% in Jan.-Apr. 07, y-o-y

In January-April 2007, free port of Riga (Latvia) handled 7.963 million tons of cargo (-5.1%, year-on-year), RZD-Partner reports. Transshipment of loose cargo totaled 4.588 million tons (-11.23%, year-on-year) including 3.135 million tons of coal (-17.7%) and 589.7 thou tons of mineral fertilizers (+28%, year-on-year).  Transshipment of general cargo amounted to 1.746 million tons (+7.4%, year-on-year) including 964.7 thou tons of timber (-1.1%) and 540.5 thou tons of containerized cargo (+6.4%).  Transshipment of liquid bulk cargo grew by 1.6% to 1.629 million tons including 1.619 million tons of oil products (+1.7%).

In 2006 the port’s throughput totaled 25.358 million tons (+3.8%, year-on-year).
