In April 2007, Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok handled 366.5 thou tons of cargo (against 365.4 thou tons in April 2006), the port’s PR Direction reports according to PrimaMedia. Transshipment of export cargo totaled 152.7 thou tons, import - 121.1 thou tons, coastal trade cargo - 92.7 thou tons. The highest growth was demonstrated in handling of coastal trade cargo - 35.5% (92.7 thou tons in April 2007 against 68.4 thou tons in April 2006). In January-April 2007, Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok handled 1.272 million tons of cargo including 583.3 thou tons of export, 422.9 thou tons of import and 265.8 thou tons of coastal trade cargo.Over the reported period, import cargo flow grew by 17.6% (422.9 thou tons in January-April 2007 against 359.5 thou tons in January-April 2006). The share of import cargo in the port’s total throughput grew by 33.2% in January-April 2007, while in January-April 2006 it was 24.1%. In the 4-month period the port handled 961 vessels and 16,444 wagons. Average daily transshipment of the port made 10.6 thou tons with handling of 137.03 wagons. Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok is located on the North-West shore of an ice-free Bay of Zolotoi Rog. It is 20-30 meters deep at the approaches to the port. The port specializes in handling of dry and liquid bulk cargo, timber and general cargo including containers. The port’s 16 berths are 4200 meters long. Two of the berths are cargo-and-passenger ones. All the berths except for berth No 16 are multi-purpose berths. Berth No 16 specializes in handling of large-capacity containers. The port also has two refrigerator warehouses with a capacity of 5,000 m3 each.
