MOL owns 93% of Diamond Ferry and 100% of Blue Highway Line West Japan. Both companies’ shareholders have approved the merger.
Since 2001, both companies have had common top management and a business tie-up, with positive effects through rationalisation.
The companies will continue to develop their business as The Diamond Ferry Co. Ltd.
Diamond Ferry president Shin-ichi Takemoto will remain president of the merged company, which will be headquartered in Kyushu.
The main business of the company is the Hanshin-Nakakyushu ferry service (four daily sailings of both in- and outbound lines, jointly operated with Kansai Kisen, and the Osaka-Minamikyushu ferry service (one daily sailing of both in- and outbound lines).
