Grain transshipment complex to start operation in the port of Yuzhny by grain season of 2008

Grain transshipment complex with a capacity of 2 million tons is to be put into operation by Ukraine’s largest grain trader in the port of Yuzhny, RZD-Partner reports. New sea complex Bovirazh will be one of the largest grain transshipment complexes of Ukraine’s water area. The terminal owned by Transinvestservis LLC (TIS) in the port of Yuzhny has a capacity of 3.5 million tons, those of the ports of Iljichevsk and Odessa may handle 4.2 and 3.5 million tons per year. The project was initiated by Privat TH, Ukraine’s largest grain trader. The company plans to get its own entry to the world market of grain trading. The complex is designed to accept grain delivered either by road or by railway. The facilities are capable of shipping 1.2 thou tons per hour. It may be a direct loading from the trucks or wagons or via accumulators.

The 210-meter long berth will be extended with mooring posts. The depth by the berth will be up to 15 meters, thus making the complex one of the most deep-water objects in the port’s harbor. Dredging works are being carried out by Chernomortekhflot OJSC.
