Bulgaria releases a tender for a 30-year operating concession on its Danube river port of Vidin North

According to an announcement posted in Sofia's Dnevnik daily, no starting price has been set. The announcement added that criteria for selection of the best bidder will be available in tender documents which potential operators will be able to buy by June 4.
Offers will be invited by July 2 and bids will be opened the next day, the Transport Ministry official in charge of the tender, Veneta Markova, told the press today.
The Bulgarian government has said that it plans to grant concessions on the Danube river ports of Lom and Ruse West by the middle of this year.
The construction of a bridge over the Danube will start in Vidin later this month.  The bridge, scheduled to open in 2010, will link Vidin to Calafat in Romania on the opposite bank of the river.
This bridge will become part of the European Union-defined transport Corridor IV running from Germany to Greece and Turkey.
