In January-April 2007, cargo loading at Russian railways grew by 5.3% to 434.198 million tons, press release of Russian Railways OJSC reads. In April Russian railways transported 111 million tons of cargo (+1.9%, year-on-year). Cargo turnover totaled 676 billion tons per km in January-April 2007 (+9.4%, year-on-year) and 173.5 billion tons per km in April 2007 (+7.9%, year-on-year). In the four-month period of 2007 Russian railways transported 97.512 million tons of coal (+0.5%, year-on-year), 3.928 of coke (+14.6%), 77.911 million tons of oil and oil products (+4.5%), 36.130 million tons of iron and manganese ore (+4.7%), 28.206 million tons of ferrous metal (+10.7%), 15.429 million tons of chemical and mineral fertilizers (+4.2%), 11.580 million tons of cement (+30.1%), 25.568 million tons of timber (+2.9%), 58.197 million tons of construction cargo (+4.5%).
