In January-March 2007, the ports of Baltic states handled 36.05 million tons of cargo (+3.316 million tons, or +10.1%, year-on-year). According to RZD-Partner referring to Latvia’s State Statistics Department, the ports of Latvia account for 41.4% of total volume, Estonia - 38.5% and Lithuania – 20.1%. All the ports of Baltic states increased their throughput. The highest growth was demonstrated by the ports of Latvia – 3.1% (or 451.2 thou tons) to 14.929 million tons. Throughput of Estonian ports increased by 18.4% (+2.157 million tons) to 13.888 million tons; Lithuanian – by 10.9% (+708.4 thou tons) to 7.233 million tons.
