In January-March 2007, volume of Lithuania’s export totaled $3.69 billion (+6.2%, year-on-year), import - $5.153 billion (+13.4%, year-on-year), Lithuania’s Statistics Department reports according to RZD-Partner. Foreign trade deficit totaled $1.461 billion in January-March 2007 (+37.1%, year-on-year). In March, Lithuania’s export upped 3.4%, year-on-year, while import decreased 1.9% compared to March 2006.Export consisted mainly of mineral products (12.3%), machines, mechanisms and electric equipment (12.2%); import - machines, mechanisms and electric equipment (16.9%), vehicles and auxiliary transport equipment (16.3%), mineral products (16.3%). In the first quarter of 2007, 14% of Lithuania’s export fell on Russian market, 12.4% - Latvia, 11.8% - Germany. 6.6% -

17.2% of total import to Lithuania came from Russia, 15% - from Germany, 10.7% - from Poland and 5.3% - from Latvia. In 2006, Lithuania’s export made $14.926 billion (+18.4%, year-on-year), import - $20.412 billion (+23%). Foreign trade deficit of Lithuania grew by 37.3% compared to that of 2005 – to $5.485 billion.
