ThyssenKrupp to supply port Yuzhnyy in Ukraine

At the Port of Yuzhnyy, one of the largest seaports on the Black Sea, a modern coal and ore handling terminal has been built, reaching a capacity of up to 10 million tons per year. The terminal owner is the company TIS TransinvestService of Odessa in the Ukraine and ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik of St. Ingbert will supply the essential materials handling equipment for the commodities.
Following extensive negotiations, the contract documents awarding the contract to supply equipment to the value of almost 10 million € were signed at this year’s BAUMA exhibition in Munich.
Since 1994, contracts totalling approximately 30 million € have been successfully concluded between TIS and TKF and, with the award of this new contract, together with other orders from the former Soviet Union, ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik have been able to repeatedly prove their technical competence, performance and efficiency over the last two years.
Coal and ore are delivered to the terminal in open wagons. At a separate unloading station, the wagons will be lifted from the rail track and simultaneously emptied into a bunker by means of a side discharge dumper which turns the wagons upside down to release the material.
The wagon unloading station has a capacity of 1,600 t/h. From there, the material will be conveyed to an open stockyard where it will be stockpiled by a stacker. In order to load it into ships, the material will be reclaimed from the stockpile by a reclaimer and transported to the respective loading pier in the port via a conveyor system, where a TKF shiploader with a capacity of 3,500 t/h will feed the material into ships ranging in size up to 120,000 DWT.
Special requirements had to be taken into consideration when designing and configuring the machines, particularly with regard to environmental protection, i.e. dust and noise emissions, as well as ease of operation. ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik were able to use their many years of experience and knowledge of shiploader construction in order to implement the necessary measures and solutions which were required to achieve an environmentally friendly plant.
ThyssenKrupp Fordertechnik looks back on more than 140 years of experience and know-how concerning its range of activities. This enables the company to design, supply and assemble individual machines and systems as well as complete major projects specially oriented towards the requirements of the customers.
