Russian ports of the Black and Azov Sea to get ferry link with Bulgarian Varna and Burgas

In the nearest future, Russian ports of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov will be linked by ferry lines with Bulgarian ports of Varna and Burgas, Yuga.Ru reports. In particular, Varna-Azov ferry complex and regular ferry link Novorossiysk-Varna are under discussion at Bulgaria-Russia committee on trade-and-economic cooperation and at top-level negotiations.

According to Bulgaria’s Ministry of Transport, the target is to integrate Bulgarian ports at Danube into a transport network via Ruse-Varna and trans-Black Sea ferries by 2009-2010. The idea implies joint construction of a container terminal in Ruse (Bulgaria’s largest port at Danube). The project is said to be costing about EUR 8 million. Besides, new transport traffic junctions between Bulgaria and Greece, Macedonia and Bulgaria, Bulgaria and Serbia.
