Export of oil via the port of Primorsk up 20% in Jan.-Apr. 07, y-o-y

In January-April 2007, Spetsmornefteport “Primorsk” increased oil export by 20%, year-on-year, to 24.3 million tons, Administration of St. Petersburg Seaport reports. Over the reported period the port handled 484 vessels. In April, export of oil totaled 6.5 million tons with handling of 129 vessels.

Spetsmornefteport “Primorsk” OJSC (Leningrad Region, subsidiary of Transneft company) was put into operation on December 27, 2001 as the final stage of the first phase of Baltic Pipeline System (BPS) aimed at oil transportation from Timano-Pechersk and West-Siberia oil-and-gas provinces as well as from Kazakhstan. PBS’s annual capacity as of the date of commissioning was 12 million tons. In 2003 PBS’s capacity was increased to 30 million tons of oil per year. Today its capacity is 65 million tons.
