EMS expands further by acquisition
SSG-TØNSBERG. Eitzen Maritime Services (EMS) acquires Spanish ship supply company Provimar SA for EUR 31 million. The company had sales of EUR 100 million last year and is Spain’s largest ship supply company, with presence in 27 ports in Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar, Morocco, Uruguay and the United States. Provimar has a strong position in the Mediterranean and has established footholds in North and South America. EMS has also agreed to acquire the minority interests in a number of joint ventures operating in India and out of Bermuda for a total of USD 16 million. EMS is currently the majority shareholder in several companies providing ship management and crewing services in these countries. As part of the agreement EMS also acquires an Indian ship agency and logistics operation.
