Latvian Railway decreases transportation by 4.3% in Jan.-Apr. 07, y-o-y

In January-April 2007, Latvijas dzelzcels (LDz, Latvian Railway) transported 16.289 million tons of cargo (-4.3%, year-on-year), Transit Policy Department of Communications Ministry reports according to Delfi.  Internal transportation decreased by 9% to 483.5 thou tons, international transportation — by 7.7% from 16.51 million tons to 15.805 million tons.  Export fell 36.6% to 297.6 thou tons, import – by 5.1% to 1.68 million tons.  Total volume of transit cargo transported by LDZ fell by 7.3% to 13.827 million tons, while transit via ports decreased by 9.2%.
