Zvezdochka (Severodvinsk) completes upgrade of Indian sub Sinduvijai

This is the fourth Indian sub of the project 877 EKM “Kilo” that was repaired and upgraded by the Severodvinsk based enterprise. It was transported for repair on June, 3rd, 2005 by the transport ship of the Belgian company "Dockvice". Now the sub will undergo plant’s mooring and sailing tests. By the end of the year the sub is to joint the Indian Navy. During modernization the submarine got Russia’s newest rocket complex «Club-S», intended for the defeat of the surface ships and ground targets of the probable opponent at the distance of about 200 km. The sub also got a lot of Indian made equipment: a hydro acoustic complex «USHUS», the system of radio communication «CCS–MK» and other. Organizational work on repair and modernization was managed by Zvezdochka’s military-technical cooperation dept (head Igor Bondarenko). The manager responsible for the delivery – Igor Tsvetkov. The head of the slipway - Alexander Belavin. The ceremony was attended by the high ranking Indian delegation.
