International seminar on «Baltic Maritime Safety Cooperation and Oil Spill Management Personnel Training» to be held in St. Petersburg, 05 - 06.06.07

International seminar on «Baltic Maritime Safety Cooperation and Oil Spill Management Personnel Training» will be held in St. Petersburg, Russia 05 - 06.06.2007. This non-commercial seminar has educational and social goals.  The seminar’s main idea is ecological safety and safe navigation in the Gulf of Finland and in the Baltic Sea under growth of hazardous cargo transportation through education and practical training of specialists. The seminar is financed from EU resources. The event is to attract over 80 participants including representatives of Sea Administrations from Sweden, Finland, as well as those of Kotka and St. Petersburg. Besides, specialists and teachers from maritime educational institutions of Norway, Finland Estonia and Poland will also participate in the seminar. From the Russian side the seminar is to be opened by A.Y. Klyvin, Director of the Department on state policy in the area of sea and river transport under RF Transport Ministry, from the Finnish side – Markku Milli, Director General of Finnish Sea Administration.
