Cargo handling of the ports of Odessa region (Ukraine) up 19.4% in Jan.-Apr. 07, y-o-y

In January-April 2007, cargo handling in the ports of Odessa region (Ukraine) totaled 32.4 million tons (+19.4%), year-on-year, regional state administration reports according to RBC-Ukraine. Transshipment of transit cargo surged by 49.8% to 17.7 million tons, import – by 39.2% to 3.1 million tons, export – decreased by 14.2% to 11.2 million tons.  Cargo turnover of Odessa Commercial Seaport grew by 21.4% to 11.4 million tons, Yuzhny – by 1.4% to 7.3 million tons, Iljichevsk – by 7.6% to 5.1 million tons. The results should be attributed to growth in transit of oil, coal, ore, grain etc. In 2006, cargo handling in the ports of Odessa region totaled 82.6 million tons (73.4% of throughput in all 19 commercial seaports of Ukraine).
