Land reclamation for passenger terminal starts at Vasilievski island (St. Petersburg)

Land reclamation for a sea passenger terminal has started in the western part of Vasilievski island (St. Petersburg), Serik Zhusupov, Vice-President of Managing Company “Sea Façade” LLC, told journalists. According to Zhusupov, in 2007 it is planned to complete dredging works (18 million m3) and to finalize a hydraulic fill layer (over 2 million m3). The quay wall is to be extended by 1.1 thou meters, coastal fortification – by 252 meters. Zhusupov says RUR 4.610 billion is to be spent for the above purposes in 2007. The figure includes RUR 2.610 billion coming from federal budget and RUR 2 billion of private investments. The major investor is Tera Nova CJSC. However, the work on attracting of other investors is going on.Vasili Suvorov, head of the Sea Routes and Ecology Department of Rosmorport FSUE, says RUR 4.700 billion were spent for Sea Façade construction in 2006 (RUR 2 billion of private investment and RUR 2.700 billion of federal money). These resources were used for the first phase of construction including 35-hectare territory, construction of a technological canal (167,000 m3), as well as for construction of an access road and southern technological bank. Besides, four berths with total length of 1,203 meters were built in 2006.

Sea Façade of St. Petersburg LLC is the operator of the “Passenger Port of St. Petersburg” project. Sea Façade of St. Petersburg LLC was incorporated by Quantum-Petroleum (80%), Port-Arktur (10%) and Monacorp (10%). All the above companies are members of First Quantum group known as a participant in different projects related to sea transportation. Construction of real estate units at the territory of reclaimed land will be carried out by design-and-construction agency Perspective LLC incorporated by Marine perspective limited (Cyprus).
