Primafuel to build biodiesel facility at Port of Sacramento

The Port of Sacramento in northern California has reached an agreement with Primafuel to build a biodiesel manufacturing facility which would occupy about 10 acres of previously developed space.
Long Beach-headquartered Primafuel develops the production infrastructure and technologies for next-generation low-carbon fuels. Biodiesel is an alternative fuel that is biodegradable, non-toxic, and essentially free of sulphur and aromatics. It can be mixed with petroleum diesel to create a biodiesel blend and used in diesel engines with no major modifications, a statement from port authorities said.
"Primafuel is proud to be working with the Port of Sacramento to develop a truly world-class biodiesel production and significant research and development facility," said Richard Root Woods, chief executive officer of Primafuel.
This development comes after the revived port, which is now under the governance of the City of West Sacramento, completed a transition in its terminal operations to a landlord port this year.
