Oslo Marine Group acquires Zapadnaya Companiya (port of St. Petersburg)
Oslo Marine Group (St. Petersburg) has acquired a stevedoring company of the port of St. Petersburg – Zapadnaya Companiya CJSC. It was confirmed by the Group’s press center without any further comments. The deal has not been finished from legal point of view, PortNews IAA learnt from the representatives of the press center. Having purchased Zapadnaya Companiya CJSC Oslo Marine Group acquires its first berths in the port of St. Petersburg. The participants of the stevedoring market of the port of St. Petersburg say the value of the deal is quite high. It exceeds $40 million. (to compare with NLMK’s acquisition of almost 50% of the Sea Port of St. Petersburg OJSC from Nasdor for about $100 million). However, there is no official confirmation of this information. Zapadnaya Companiya CJSC is a private company set up at the premises and the harbor waters of Severnaya Verf Shipyard. The company owns two berths (СВ-15 and СВ-16) with the draft about 5 meters, one of which is leased for transshipment of oil products and bunker fuel. The other berth is used for transshipment of metal, round and sawn timber. According to information published in the reference book “Big Port St. Petersburg”, the company owns 40 m2 of open storage facilities, 30-ton floating crane, three caterpillar cranes «РДК-25» and an 8-ton portal crane. Oslo Marine Group does not reveal any plans for development of Zapadnaya Companiya CJSC. Earlier (late in May 2007), Oslo Marine Group acquired Port Vyborgski LLC from Rosa Holding. The deal is said to total $ 14-20 million. The Group plans to redirect the port’s activities to handling of ro-ro cargo and containers.
