The Cosco Shipping Co. board has approved the ordering by its subsidiary Cosco Shipping (HK) Investment Development Co Ltd of eight multi-purpose vessels with deadweight tonnage of 28,000 tonnes.
Cosco Shipping (HK) Investment Development will order the eight ships from the mainland shipyard, Shandong Huanghai Shipbuilding, at a total cost of US$256 million.
The first ship will be delivered in August 2009, and the rest will be delivered every four months.
