Brostrom buys shipowning group in Asia

Swedish tanker owner and logistics company Broström will aquire the Petroships Group with companies in Singapore and Malaysia, operating nine tankers of 5,000–16,500 DWT. The average age is nine years. The group has 270 employees, of which 220 are seagoing personnel, and had last year net sales corresponding to USD 45 million. The current owner will retain minority stakes in some companies. Broström has been active in the Asian market for ten years and operates a fleet of 11 tankers in the 40,000–50,000 DWT range from its office in Singapore. A further three newbuildings will be added to the fleet during next year.
