FCT capacity to reach 1.2 million TEU in 2008
The capacity of First Container Terminal (FCT CJSC, part of National Container Company, St. Petersburg ) will grow to 1.2 million TEU by 2008 considering introduction of a new terminal in Shushary, NCC reports according to PRIME-TASS. By 2012 the capacity is to increase to 1.6 million TEU.
In 2006, the terminal’s throughput totaled 888,827 TEU (+23%, year-on-year). According to the press center, the construction of a new motor-car gate has been finalized at the terminal. It started operation July 27, 2007. Additional gate made it possible to improve the schedule and to separate incoming and outgoing transport flows. Within the framework of NCC investment program, being implemented at FCT, large-scale infrastructure development is supplemented with modernization and purchase of new handling equipment.
