The company that is going to lay the Nord Stream natural gas pipeline from Russia to Germany has announced it has changed the route for the pipeline's offshore section for environmental and legal reasons, Interfax reports.
The new route will run north of the Danish island of Bornholm and not south of it as planned initially, making the pipeline 8 kilometers longer, the Nord Stream company said in a press release.
The decision to change the route followed talks with Danish and German authorities, Nord Stream said.
