AmeraMex wins $5.5m order for container handlers

Marine Terminals has awarded a $5.5 million order to AmeraMex International for loaded container handlers. AmeraMex anticipates shipment of the EPA Tier III-compliant container handlers during the first quarter of 2008.
“We have been an AmeraMex customer for approximately five years and currently operate more than 300 Taylor Machine Works machines, including their container handlers,” commented Ken Pope, Southern California area manager for Marine Terminals.
The new Taylor handlers are unique in their ability to stack loaded containers up to six high, which will save significant dock space.
According to AmeraMex president & CEO Lee Hamre, there is considerable growth within the stevedoring industry, and the company expects its order flow to continue to meet the requirement for additional equipment to efficiently handle the increase of imported of goods into the US and the need for stevedoring equipment to meet mandatory EPA Tier III compliance.
